The seeded players for this year’s women’s singles draw at Wimbledon have been confirmed.
Aryna Sabalenka will be the top seed at Wimbledon this year, as she looks to win her first title at a non-hard court Grand Slam tournament.
Former champions Elena Rybakina and Iga Swiatek will also return to Wimbledon this year, as they look to recreate their previous successes at the grass court major.
While Rybakina and Swiatek will both be top three seeds, another former Wimbledon champion will be unseeded at this year’s tournament.

Former champion Barbora Krejcikova leads unseeded threats at Wimbledon this year
1. Barbora Krejcikova
Barbora Krejcikova won her second Grand Slam singles title at Wimbledon in 2024 after beating Jasmine Paolini in the final.
Since winning her second major singles title, Krejcikova has struggled with many injury issues and had only played six tournaments in 2026 prior to the grass court season.
Krejcikova reached the final of the Libema Open before she was forced to withdraw due to illness.
The world number 39 will be a huge threat at Wimbledon this year, with Krejcikova being one of the few players in the draw who knows what it takes to go all the way to winning the title.

2. Jelena Ostapenko
Jelena Ostapenko will also be unseeded at Wimbledon this year, with the Latvian always a danger when she is in her peak form.
Ostapenko is a Grand Slam singles champion and former Wimbledon semi-finalist, showing that she knows what it takes to reach the latter stages of a major tournament.
The world number 38 has not played a single match on grass this year, but Ostapenko is somewhat like a dormant volcano and could erupt at any second to produce a deep run at a major tournament.

3. Karolina Pliskova
Karolina Pliskova is another player who knows what it takes to reach the latter stages of a Grand Slam tournament, having reached two major finals before, including Wimbledon in 2021.
The former world number one returned to tennis last year as an unranked player after undergoing surgery on her left ankle.
Who is currently the best grass-court player on the WTA Tour?
Since then, Pliskova has rediscovered her form and is now back inside the top 100.
Pliskova has continued her form into the grass court season, where she has reached the semi-finals of the Nottingham Open and the semi-finals of Queen’s.
With her huge, reliable serve, no player will want to see their name next to Pliskova’s when the Wimbledon draw is released.

4. Katie Boulter
Katie Boulter has never been past the third round of a Grand Slam before, but she is likely to be a major unseeded threat at Wimbledon this year.
The 29-year-old has enjoyed a resurgent season in 2026, with Boulter climbing from world number 120 back into the top 60.
Boulter has done this after winning her fourth WTA title in Ostrava, and she has continued this form into the grass court season.
At Queen’s, Boulter beat Rybakina in her best ever career victory in terms of ranking, as she reached the semi-finals of the WTA 500 tournament.
Boulter is also British and will therefore have the home support cheering her on, as she looks to reach the second week of a Grand Slam for the first time.

5. Tatjana Maria
Tatjana Maria would be unlikely to be seen as a big threat during most of the year, but the German comes into her own during the grass court season.
Maria is a former Wimbledon semi-finalist and last year, she also won her biggest career title at Queen’s.
The 38-year-old’s crafty style that uses a lot of slice and variety causes nightmares for her opponents on grass, particularly those who are big hitters.
Maria has showcased this once again during the grass court season, having beaten Maria Sakkari, won a set against Rybakina and reached the quarter-finals of the Nottingham Open.

Has an unseeded woman ever won Wimbledon before?
Not only are these five unseeded players hoping to cause upsets at Wimbledon this year, but they will also be dreaming of going all the way to win the title.
Only one woman has done this before, with Marketa Vondrousova winning the Wimbledon title in 2023.
Vondrousova was the world number 42 at the time and beat the likes of Jessica Pegula, Elina Svitolina and Ons Jabeur to claim her maiden Grand Slam title.
Who is the most shocking Grand Slam champion ever?
You never know what might happen…
The Czech is currently on this year’s Wimbledon entry list, and while she is eligible to play, Vondrousova is currently battling a charge from the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) for refusing a doping test.
Vondrousova has not played a match since January, and it is unclear as to whether she will return when the main draw of Wimbledon starts on Monday, June 29.
