Serena Williams US Open 2020

‘The Australian Open could be the best chance for Serena Williams’, says former star

Retired Slovakian tennis star Daniela Hantuchova believes that Serena Williams will have her best chance of winning another Grand Slam at the Australian Open in February.

Serena Williams is still chasing her elusive 24th Major crown to equal Margaret Court’s Grand Slam record, but the American has failed to win a Major title for three consecutive seasons for the first time in a career.

Hantuchova has said that Williams will have her best chance to win yet another Major in Melbourne, with the expectation and pressure far less in comparison to Wimbledon and the US Open.

‘Whenever Serena enters a tournament, she has a chance. I think the Australian Open could be the best one for her because she is away from some of the pressure she gets at Wimbledon and the US Open, and she can concentrate on her tennis’, said Hantuchova.

‘If there is a right place for her to get this record, maybe it will be in Melbourne. Hopefully, she can get there, and we can find a way to play with this quarantine issue.

‘It was important to have so many successful events over the last few months, encouraging everyone to believe we have lots to look forward to in 2021’.

Williams will be hoping to win her eighth Australian crown and her first since 2017 when the 2021 edition gets underway in February.
