With four players ranked in the WTA top 10 at the end of 2025, American women’s tennis is thriving.
Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, Amanda Anisimova and Madison Keys have all enjoyed impressive years on the Tour, with Gauff and Keys winning Grand Slam events in Paris and Melbourne respectively.
Furthermore, one must also understand the wider picture: the US boasts 10 players in the WTA top 50, and 16 in the top 100.
One of these players is Caty McNally, who has produced a marvellous 2025 campaign on the WTA Tour.

Caty McNally rose over 736 ranking places over the course of 12 months
Caty McNally ended the 2024 WTA Tour season ranked 817th in the world.
McNally, a winner of eight WTA Tour doubles titles during her career, was a top 100 player prior to 2024. However, she suffered an elbow injury at the 2023 US Open, which later required surgery.
The surgery, which took place after McNally’s participation in the Puerto Vallarta Open in March 2024, prevented the American from competing until November 2024.

By November 11, McNally had fallen to world number 817.
McNally fought to rise back up the rankings, and by the close of 2024, she had increased her ranking to 540.
In 2025, the American has skyrocketed up the rankings. Match wins at Indian Wells and Wimbledon certainly helped her cause, as did winning her second WTA 125 title at the Hall of Fame Open.
A week later, McNally captured her second title of the year, winning the W100 event in Evansville. This tournament victory moved her up to number 116 on the WTA rankings.
McNally went on to reach the second round in Cincinnati and New York, before making her first WTA Tour quarter-final since 2023 at the Guangzhou Open.
This result propelled her to world number 81.
