A first-time Grand Slam champion will be crowned on Sunday, but who will it be?

Who will win the 2026 French Open final – Alexander Zverev or Flavio Cobolli?

We asked our fans on TalkingPoints that very question…

TalkingPoints readers back Alexander Zverev to win his first Grand Slam at the French Open

Somewhat unsurprisingly, our readers are backing the world number three to lift the title.

The German is, after all, a three-time runner-up and knows exactly what to expect from a Grand Slam final.

Twice Zverev has been a set away from winning a major title, and taking on a lower-ranked opponent this time around, perhaps this is his year.

Cobolli shouldn’t be overlooked, though.

The young Italian has impressed in Paris this year and has spent less time on court than his final opponent.

Those numbers are, however, skewed by Matteo Arnaldi’s last-minute withdrawal, which handed Cobolli a walkover into the final.

That could even work against Cobolli in Sunday’s Championship match, having not played a match in four days.

Will he arrive with fresh legs or will he have lost the match sharpness required to compete for a Grand Slam title?

It’s impossible to know for sure, but our fans weren’t afraid to put their necks on the line and share their thoughts.

“This is Sascha’s match,” one fan said.

“He has to win. If he doesn’t, I don’t see him getting another chance like this.”

“For the good of the game, we need Cobolli to deprive Zverev. Flavio has the game to do it, so let’s all keep our fingers crossed he pulls it out,” said another.

“An additional side note – the strength in depth of the current generation of Italian men merits the win on its own.”

One fan is looking forward to this year’s final and is expecting a high-quality match thanks to Arnaldi’s withdrawal.

“The great thing about the sadness of this final, they both get extra time to rest and recover,” they said.

“The game will be much better for this; not enough time between matches gives a poor final. Just a fan’s opinion.”

How impressed have you been by Alexander Zverev at Roland Garros?

He's into another French Open final…

That’s what the fans think, but what about our writers?

“Head is going with Zverev, heart is going with Cobolli. I think Cobolli needs to win the first set if he is to have a chance, though!” said Matthew Johns.

“Zverev in four for me – can’t see Cobolli winning unless he gets the crowd involved,” said Max Kilham.

“Got to be Zverev’s time,” added John Verrall.

“If he doesn’t win this, he never will.”

Zverev will play Cobolli in the French Open men’s singles final on Sunday, June 7.

Maja Chwalinska predicted to upset Mirra Andreeva in the French Open women’s final

Before the men take centre stage, Mirra Andreeva and Maja Chwalinska will battle it out for the women’s title on Saturday.

Who will win the French Open final – Mirra Andreeva or Maja Chwalinska?

The final nobody expected…

Andreeva, the world number eight, has long been touted as a future Grand Slam champion, but can she beat the Polish qualifier, Chwalinska?

Our fans on TalkingPoints say no.

Predicting an upset, TalkingPoints users are backing Chwalinska to finish off her dream run with a title.

“I’ll go for Maja as I think her game will frustrate Andreeva a lot,” said one fan.

“Andreeva will lose her cool as usual.”

“Chwalinska,” said another.

“Andreeva has issues with her temperament under pressure. She has been known to have temper tantrums and to be a bad loser.

“If she loses her cool, her opponent will take the title.”

“Chwalinska has great poise, I hope she’s able to hold her nerves,” said one fan on TalkingPoints.

“I want Mirra to win, but I smell another upset,” added another.

Tennishead writers weren’t quite so sure about Chwalinska’s chances.

“Andreeva for me. This is her time,” said Cameron Greenlees.

“I think Andreeva should win, but Chwalinska has surprised everyone all tourney,” said Callum Davies.

“I have to back Andreeva, but I do think that Chwalinska will cause her a lot of problems!” added Matthew Johns.

Andreeva and Chwalinska will contest the 2026 French Open women’s singles final on Saturday, June 6.
