Taylor Fritz opted for another career milestone above his 2024 US Open final appearance when asked to name his proudest achievement.
Fritz heads to the ATP Finals to cap off an impressive season that has seen him crack the top four of the rankings.
The American has asserted himself as one of the best players on the ATP Tour and that was arguably started by his appearance in the US Open final in 2024.
The star lost to Jannik Sinner at his home Grand Slam, but that’s still as close as he’s come to winning a major tournament.
There is another career moment, however, that the American describes as his proudest achievement in tennis.

Taylor Fritz’s proudest moment of his career
Asked by Dexerto about his proudest achievement, the American responded: “I’d say the proudest moment of my career is probably winning Indian Wells in 2022 for sure.”
Fritz defeated Rafael Nadal, Andrey Rublev, and Miomir Kecmanović to lift his maiden Masters trophy on home turf.
“I think making US Open final is obviously a really big achievement. Maybe even bigger, but it’s just ending the tournament with a win just feels, you know, it feels a lot more satisfying.”
It’s no surprise that Fritz holds his Indian Wells victory in such high regard.
Fritz became the first American to lift the trophy since Andre Agassi in 2001 and he did so by ending Nadal’s 20-match winning streak.
To date, Indian Wells remains the only ATP 1000 title the American has managed to win in his career.
Taylor Fritz names his two dream opponents
In the same interview, Fritz also named two retired opponents that he would have loved to face in their prime.
The star picked two American icons as dream opponents. “I think the retired player that I’d like to play that I didn’t get the chance to play would probably be probably Agassi or Sampras,” he explained.
“You know, luckily for me, I got to play Roger, Rafa, Novak. Like, so I got to play a lot of the guys in my generation, but yeah, I’d say maybe Agassi or Sampras. They’re just like US legends, I guess.”
Fritz is widely considered America’s greatest chance at male Grand Slam success, but he will have to go some way to play at the level of Sampras and Agassi.
The closest Fritz has come to either man is getting coached by Agassi at the 2025 Laver Cup, where Team World prevailed.
