Taylor Fritz is the latest to join in praising Seb Korda, after he recorded a famous victory over Carlos Alcaraz last night.

It marked the biggest of his career by far, dumping the world number one out of the Miami Open and clearing the path for Jannik Sinner to potentially complete the Sunshine Double.

However, the Italian will not be alone in wanting to thank Korda.

Taylor Fritz has seen his potential passage to the final cleared significantly, and lauded Korda before the match was even over.

Speaking while Korda’s match against Carlos Alcaraz was still ongoing, hearing that his compatriot was a set and a break up, Fritz took the opportunity to praise his level.

It’s therefore ironic that Korda would go on to lose that second set before eventually rallying again to win the match in three sets.

Fritz’s claims remain relevant, though regardless of the unpredictability of the match, as he told Tennis Channel: “I saw a lot of him in Dallas.

“Obviously, we had a very, very close match. I thought I played very well in that match and was still, you know, two points away from losing it, so.

“I know Seb has been playing really well. I feel like he’s been serving. He’s always, like, you know, returned well, struck the ball up the baseline, and I think he’s been serving pretty, like, better than normally, just serving really well, I think.

“Playing with confidence and obviously, I can say this now, and it’s not… You know, you don’t need to believe me or not, but I did say I felt like this is gonna be a really close match.”

Tommy Paul also praised Korda after his win over Alcaraz, whilst outlining what their relationship has been like in recent years.

Taylor Fritz’s record against his next opponent Jiri Lehecka

With his half of the Miami Open draw having been blown wide open by Korda, Fritz will be quietly confident of his chances of reaching the final.

After all, he is the highest-ranked player by some distance, as the only player left sitting inside the world’s top 20.

However, he faces a stern test next against Jiri Lehecka, who has the capability to beat most players on tour on his day.

Fortunately, his day seldom comes against Fritz, with the American boasting a comfortable lead in their head-to-head; he has won four of their five meetings, although he did lose their most recent match last year.
