Taylor Fritz has one regret from the past couple of years that he has now admitted.
Fritz reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals for a third consecutive year, where he played against Alexander Zverev.
However, this quarter-final saw Zverev beat Fritz, bringing an end to his seven-match winning streak against the Roland Garros champion.
Fritz was clearly struggling with his recurring knee injury, having been suffering tendonitis for a lengthy period, and he has now admitted the mistake he may have made with it last year.

Fritz appears to be feeling fit again, as he is playing at the Washington Open this week, where he spoke in his pre-tournament press conference.
In this press conference, Fritz was asked about his knee injury and if there is anything he wishes he had done differently.
While Fritz was generally happy with the decisions he had made, he suggested that he should have perhaps been more proactive with tackling the issue in his knee around the time of the 2025 Australian Open.

“No. Honestly, no,” began Fritz. “I’d say the only thing would be way earlier on, like 2025 Australia when I first started feeling like the signs of the tendinitis, maybe just from that moment on got more just on, like, I guess the rehab work and the protocol.
“I think I let it get too bad before I fully started doing all of the stuff I needed to do to strengthen the tendon and deal with tendinitis. Part of that is because when I was partially into it, I felt like when I would do the protocol, it would actually make it worse, and it would irritate it more for my matches, so I felt like I was just trying to play through.
“I played well the majority [of the] second half of the 2025 season, but yeah, if I could go back, I think from the beginning of 2025 I would just start doing all of the tendinitis protocol stuff that I do now, and I probably could have prevented it from getting really, really bad.”

Despite reaching two finals during the grass court season, Fritz does not hold a single title from the past 12 months.
Fritz will be hoping to change this at the Washington Open, where he is the third seed.
The 28-year-old will play Belgian Zizou Bergs in the first round, who Fritz beat in their first ever meeting during the grass court season.
If Fritz is able to beat Bergs again, then he could face a very tricky second round encounter against his compatriot Tommy Paul.
Some of the other potential threats to Fritz winning the Washington Open title include Ben Shelton, Alex de Minaur and Learner Tien.
Fritz will play his first round match in the U.S. capital against Bergs on Monday, July 27.
