Taylor Fritz will return to tennis at the United Cup, where he will represent the United States alongside Coco Gauff.
Fritz impressed on the ATP Tour in 2025 as the American ended the season with two more titles and a place inside the top 10.
The star will play Spain and Argentina at the United Cup, which includes matches against Sebastian Baez and Jaume Munar.
Fritz has offered a worrying update about his health following his return to tennis and the off-season break.

Taylor Fritz is struggling with ‘serious tendonitis’
Fritz struggled with a knee injury throughout 2025 and even missed the clay court season to rehab his issues.
The star returned to action on the grass in the summer, which saw him win Stuttgart and the Eastbourne Open.
Who will be the United Cup MVP? Anyone else? Let us know in the comments
Despite taking time to recover in the off-season, Fritz has revealed that he is still struggling with tendonitis in his knee.
Speaking to the ATP Tour, Fritz said: “I couldn’t really [target] anything. I said at the end of the [ATP Finals], my goal was really just to try and rehab my knee.
“I still have pretty serious tendonitis, and that’s something that takes a really long time to get rid of. The demands of playing make it a lot harder to get rid of it, but at the same time I don’t really want to go full stop for four months to try to get it better when I feel like I can sometimes play through it.
“Sometimes it gets too bad to play through, but that was really the focus of the six weeks, just doing a lot of rehab and strengthening, and trying to lay out a base where I can maybe start to get it better.
“Maybe a couple of months into the season, I can be over it. That was really the main focus. Just hitting to keep my timing, keep my game, keep my feel, but not overdo it on my knee.”
Fritz has not been announced to play the Adelaide International after the United Cup, meaning his next tournament will be the Australian Open.
Taylor Fritz’s strange Australian Open record
Outside of his success with the United States at the United Cup, Fritz has a strange record when playing Down Under.
The American is yet to lift a trophy in the country and has never played his best tennis at the Australian Open.
What is your bold prediction for the 2026 tennis season?
Fritz has crashed out at the Australian Open third round stage four times in his career and he has only made it past that stage on two occasions.
The American’s best effort was a quarter-final appearance in 2024, when he lost in four sets to Novak Djokovic.
Considering the event is on his favoured hard court surface, it’s baffling why Fritz has not been better Down Under.
