Stepanek, the fourth seed from the Czech Republic, lost the first set before storming back to record a 3-6 6-4 6-2 triumph.

Stepanek, who defeated top seed Andy Roddick in the semi-finals, became the first Czech player to win the event since Ivan Lendl in 1983.

The comeback gave Stepanek his fourth career title and second of the season, having also won in Brisbane in January.
