Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas - Australian Open 2023

Stefanos Tsitsipas snubs Novak Djokovic when revealing his ‘GOAT’

Stefanos Tsitsipas has revealed what attributes he believes makes someone the greatest of all time, and named two of Novak Djokovic’s biggest rivals but not the Serb himself.

Tsitsipas has won nine career titles including two Monte Carlo Masters crowns and the year-end ATP finals. The No.5 has also reached two Grand Slam finals, where he lost to Djokovic in both.

Despite this, the Greek does not associate the GOAT with the player who has necessarily won the most titles, “For me, the GOAT is not who has won the most tournaments or who has won the most Slams or who has won the most matches.”

Tsitsipas continued, “For me, the GOAT is the person who has brought the most people to the to the sport, who has attracted the most people to the sport, who has inspired lots of people to do something with their life. The person that has brought joy to other people through his craft and through what he does.”

The 24-year-old then went onto compare those traits to the likes of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, while not mentioning 22-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic.

“I think, in this case, it’s pretty clear that Roger Federer has had a huge impact on that, and so has Rafael Nadal,” claimed Tsitsipas.

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs ‘The Big Three’

Tsitsipas has played the aforementioned ‘big three’ on 26 occasions, however he has only been successful six times having beaten Djokovic, Nadal and Federer twice each.
