Felix Auger-Aliassime same number of finals as Roger Federer as teenager

STATS: Youngster underlines potential by equalling Roger Federer record, but Rafael Nadal dominates list

Felix Auger-Aliassime underlined his enormous potential last week – by matching a Roger Federer record.

In the formative years of his career, Federer managed to reach four ATP Tour finals whilst still a teenager, and that’s a total that Auger-Aliassime can now match.

The Canadian is still awaiting his first title, though, after losing out to Gael Monfils in the final of Rotterdam.

Monfils, once a precocious junior talent himself, also reached four finals as a teenager, as did Juan Martin del Potro and Alexander Zverev.

Andy Murray, meanwhile, went one better with five finals before his 20th birthday.

Unsurprisingly, Novak Djokovic features prominently on the list, having played in seven finals as a teenager.

However, even the Serb cannot get even remotely close to Rafael Nadal on this particular list.

Nadal burst onto the scene as a 16-year-old and immediately started to show his quality, and by the time he was 20 he already had a staggering 18 ATP Tour finals under his belt.
