STAT: Stefanos Tsitsipas joins exclusive club as he hits impressive milestone in Paris
Stefanos Tsitsipas has joined an elite group of names after recording his 60th win of a busy season to become only the sixth active player to hit that milestone.
Tsitsipas beat Tommy Paul 6-2, 6-4 in the quarter-final of the Paris Masters to hit the milestone for the first time in his career, with it keeping alive his hopes of ending 2022 as the world number one.
Carlos Alcaraz, who is three wins behind the Greek this season, withdrew from his match in Paris with an injury, and with him now looking unlikely to play the ATP Finals it seems he will not be able to join the exclusive club this season.
The in-form Felix Auger-Aliassime is just four wins away from the 60 mark too, so he certainly has a chance.
Active players to win 60 or more matches in a single ATP season
Novak Djokovic: 10 times
Rafael Nadal: 9 times
Andy Murray: 3 times
Alexander Zverev: 1 time
Daniil Medvedev: 1 time
On the match against Paul, that sets up a semi-final clash with Novak Djokovic, Tsitsipas said: “It was a good match.
“I wish I could have maybe avoided some of the situations where I had to save break points, but I dealt with them very professionally, and I’m very happy I overcame those moments.”
