Jannik Sinner buried the hatchet against Carlos Alcaraz on Sunday evening, claiming a first Wimbledon title.
The Italian, who came agonisingly close to the French Open title in June, was simply imperious during the four-set victory over his Spanish rival.
After the first set, Alcaraz simply could not live with Sinner’s superior movement from the baseline, coupled with an excellent serving performance which limited the Spaniard’s opportunities to swing the momentum.
Another player who knew a lot about winning Wimbledon was Serena Williams, and her former coach took to social media on Monday morning to make a prediction about the future of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

Rick Macci says both Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz will win ‘double-digit’ Grand Slams
Rick Macci is a well-known and well-respected figure in tennis circles due to his involvement in the development of the Williams sisters into the future superstars that they became.
Alongside his coaching career, Macci often provides insightful pieces of commentary regarding the landscape of tennis and its future.
Following the gargantuan Wimbledon final on Sunday evening, Macci claimed the finalists’ best coaches are each other.
Macci said: “Sinner best coach is Alcaraz. Alcaraz best coach is Sinner.
“And both coaches will work overtime and over time will deliver an epic street fight and both will produce double digit grand slams because of each others coaching.“
Regarding Macci’s comments, there is certainly an argument to be made. It is understood that players regularly watch matches of their opponents to best strategise and plan before a match.
Even at the most elite level of our sport, players can often learn the most from watching their opponents play, rather than focusing solely on their own game.
Who is favourite for the US Open?
Considering either Alcaraz or Sinner have won each of the past seven Grand Slams, it is a coin toss when deciding who is the favourite for the US Open later this year. Their rivalry, which was recently praised by Jim Courier, is a gift to the sport, and it makes for fascinating conversations every time the pair cross paths.
Both have one US Open title to their name, with Sinner winning most recently in 2024. Sinner has shown more consistency on hard courts in recent times, winning the last three hard-court majors dating back to the 2024 Australian Open.

Meanwhile, Alcaraz has shown better form on the clay and grass, picking up multiple French Open and Wimbledon titles in the last couple of years.
It remains to be seen if anyone else can challenge. Alexander Zverev’s window of opportunity is closing, Daniil Medvedev has performed woefully at majors this year and Novak Djokovic is, unfortunately, not getting any younger.
