Joao Fonseca stormed to a second ATP Tour title on Sunday, defeating Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the final.
The 19-year-old proved too strong for the Spaniard in the Swiss Indoors final, winning the contest 6-3, 6-4.
Consequently, Fonseca has jumped to 28th in the ATP rankings, giving himself an excellent opportunity to qualify as a seeded player for the 2026 Australian Open.
The sky is the limit for Fonseca, who dedicated the title win in Switzerland to his parents.
This is a sentiment echoed by Rick Macci, who has discussed Fonseca’s future following his success in Basel.

Rick Macci predicts Joao Fonseca will form a ‘big three’ with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner
Rick Macci, the former coach of the Williams sisters, Andy Roddick and Maria Sharapova, has weighed in on Fonseca’s potential following the Brazilian’s Swiss Indoors triumph.
The American coach, who is credited with aiding the Williams sisters’ early tennis development, has stated Fonseca will be the player to challenge Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner at the top of the ATP Tour tree.
On X [Twitter], Macci said: “The Brazilian Blaster is a generational talent, as I said 2 years ago, and will be right there someday with the Italian Flamethrower and Spanish Magician and create a new big three.”
In a later post, he added: Fonseca has a more trending complete game with conviction than any up-and-coming player.
“Top 10 is around the bend, and the Brazilian Blaster will get there faster and someday be in there with the two Masters.
After winning the Swiss Indoors title, Fonseca will compete at the Paris Masters, where he faces Canadian player Denis Shapovalov in the first round.
