Serena Williams will play singles at the 2026 Wimbledon Championships.
Competing in singles for the first time since the 2022 US Open, Williams will line up in the 128-woman field at the All England Club later this month.
Receiving a wild card into the main draw, Williams could play anyone in the first round, from the world number one Aryna Sabalenka to a qualifier.

Former Wimbledon semi-finalist Sam Querrey has now predicted whether Williams would beat this year’s French Open runner-up, Maja Chwalinska.
Sam Querrey believes Serena Williams would beat Maja Chwalinska if they played at Wimbledon
During the latest episode of ‘Nothing Major‘, Querrey discussed Williams’ Wimbledon expectations.
“I don’t think she has huge expectations,” said Querrey.
“I honestly think that she wants to go out and play a match on Centre Court, and her daughters are old enough now that they can comprehend what is going on.
“Win or lose, it’s a huge win for her, and the fact her daughters can sit in the player’s box on Centre Court and watch their Mom play – anything other than that is gravy for Serena Williams.”

Querrey’s co-host, Steve Johnson, was also keen to share his thoughts.
“If she plays [Aryna] Sabalenka or [Elena] Rybakina, the big draw players, I don’t see her getting through them because I don’t think they will panic as much,” he said.
“But if she gets somebody random and then the 20th-seeded Maja Chwalinska after her French Open run, I like her chances to beat them.”
Querrey agreed with Johnson’s assessment.
“She beats Chwalinska right now on the grass,” he said.
Johnson then named three players he believes would cause problems for the 23-time Grand Slam champion.
“If she plays [Mirra] Andreeva, Rybakina, Coco [Gauff] – I see them getting through her because she hasn’t played,” he said.
“But if she finds the right spot, I don’t know!”
Williams hasn’t played a match since the 2022 US Open.
Since then, Sabalenka, Rybakina, Gauff, and Andreeva have all won Grand Slam titles and enjoyed lengthy stints in the top 10.

The American will need to be at her very best to stand a chance against any of the top players in women’s tennis, but as Johnson and Querrey rightly pointed out, she could fare better against someone like Chwalinska…
Why Serena Williams could beat Maja Chwalinska at Wimbledon
Poland’s Chwalinska shocked the world at Roland Garros, reaching the final having entered the competition as a qualifier.
Her performances were so impressive that she received a wild card into the Wimbledon main draw, having missed the entry cut-off.

Chwalinska will be the 20th seed at Wimbledon, but despite her popularity, there are real question marks over her ability to compete on the grass.
The Pole has only won one main draw match at Wimbledon, back in 2022.
And she hasn’t played any warm-up events on grass this year, choosing to rest after her physically taxing French Open campaign.
Furthermore, there is an argument to be made that her game isn’t suited to the grass.
Chwalinska used her variety to great effect in Paris, although there is a risk that she will be hit off the court by some of the game’s power players on grass.
Even at 44, Williams remains one of the more powerful players on tour, and would surely cause Chwalinska some real problems if they met at Wimbledon.
Chwalinska and Williams will now await the draw for the 2026 Wimbledon women’s singles tournament.
The draw will take place on Friday, June 26.
