Roger Federer named the one tennis legend he wished he could have faced in his illustrious career.

Crossing two generations of the sport, Federer lined up against some of the best tennis players to ever play the game.

The Swiss star competed against the likes of Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras, as well as Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.

There was one name Federer was absolutely desperate to face in his career that just wasn’t possible, however.

Roger Federer longed to face Bjorn Borg in a tennis match

Federer expressed his wishes to face 11-time Grand Slam champion, Bjorn Borg, in a tennis match in 2018.

“If I had a time machine, I would like to head to the court against Bjorn Borg,” said the 20-time Grand Slam champion to The Express.

“He was such an elegant and complete player from the back of the court,” explained Federer, before explaining his previous meetings with the Swede.

“He was my captain in 2017, during the inaugural Laver Cup,” said Federer. “He was super. We spoke a lot and he told me about how tennis was at his time.”

Federer and Borg have often been compared for their calm manner on the court and their excellent technical ability.

Roger Federer and Bjorn Borg will always be linked through Wimbledon

The two legendary competitors certainly made Wimbledon their home as both dominated at the London event.

Federer and Borg are the only men to win the legendary grass court Grand Slam in five consecutive years, with the pair sharing 13 wins between them.

Borg won Wimbledon from 1976 to 1980, while Federer picked up the legendary trophy five times between 2003 and 2007.

A match between both men in their prime would likely have been one for the ages, especially on a grass court.
