He went on to say that the short term nature of the injury made his loss that bit more harder to swallow.

Federer would have seen this year’s US Open as a great chance to add to his total of 20 Grand Slam singles titles especially because World No.1 Novak Djokovic had already been knocked out of the event which in theory left a clear path to a final with Rafa Nadal.
