Some of tennis’ biggest and best names have emerged to congratulate Aryna Sabalenka after claiming yet another US Open title.

It was a mesmerising run from the Belarusian, who was entering the event under huge pressure.

After all, despite being the top-ranked player and quite comfortably the most consistent, she had yet to claim a Grand Slam title.

Adding insult to injury, Sabalenka had reached two finals and a further semi-final too.

It is likely these hardships she has overcome which explains why so many superstars have rushed to celebrate her success.

Legends send congratulatory messages to Aryna Sabalenka after US Open title

Rod Laver was the first to take to X, offering his support for Amanda Anisimova whilst also praising Sabalenka.

He wrote: “Congratulations, @SabalenkaA, on your second and well-earned US Open title. Your passion and determination are incredible. Commiserations to Amanda Anisimova, who had a fantastic tournament and is getting closer to a big breakthrough. Keep fighting for it!”

Another big name to write on that same platform was Billie Jean King, who heralded the defending champion for claiming her second straight US Open title.

This was a feat that had not been achieved since Serena Williams won three in a row from 2012 to 2014.

Sabalenka revealed what her game plan was for the US Open final, and how she planned to neutralise Anisimova before the match. Clearly, it was an effective and well-executed tactic.

Aryna Sabalenka retains her place at the top of the world rankings

Not only has Sabalenka secured her fourth Grand Slam title with tonight’s victory, but she has also ensured she has retained all 2000 of the ranking points she was defending before the event began.

After all, having won the tournament last year, the pressure to regain the title is emphasised by this necessity to ensure one doesn’t lose crucial ground in the race for the world number one spot.

Especially after Iga Swiatek stunned over the summer by winning Wimbledon and the Cincinnati Open, that pressure has reached an all-time high.

But, in avoiding a drop in ranking points by successfully defending the title, Sabalenka has retained her hefty 3292-point lead ahead of the Polish superstar, the world number two.

It is now almost impossible for her to be usurped before the season ends, which will be a big relief.
