Robson, who is set to become the youngest player to appear in the women’s tournament at SW19 since Martina Hingis in 1995, triumphed 7-6 1-6 17-15 after the contest went to a super tie-breaker.

The 15-year-old Wimbledon girls champion had been defeated by her opponent in the same manner yesterday but came through on centre court today to set up a deciding clash on Sunday.

Robson broke the Ukrainian’s serve in the 11th game of the first set to take a 6-5 lead and although she double faulted in the next game to hand Savchuk a break point back, regained her composure and won the game to take the first set 7-5.

It was a completely different story in the second set as the more experienced Savchuk powered into a 5-0 lead before taking it 6-1 to set up the super-tie break.

Robson double faulted again on match point at 14-13 but then hit an ace before finally grabbing the victory 17-15.
