The 15-year-old rose to prominence when she won Junior Wimbledon last year and has since reached the final of the Australian Open and risen to number one in the world.

Robson has already demonstrated impressive mental strength in her short career and she gradually took the upper hand in the second set before breaking to take a 5-3 lead.

From there she quickly levelled matters and the Londoner held on to an early break in the decider to set up a second-round meeting with Poland’s Sandra Zaniewska.
