Robredo defeated local favourite Juan Monaco in the final of the Copa Telmex, grinding out a 7-5 2-6 7-6 (7/5) victory in Buenos Aires.

It was the second title this season – and ninth of his career – for Robredo, who also lifted the trophy in Brazil earlier this month.

The Spaniard got off to a good start, claiming the opening set before rain delayed the match for nearly 90 minutes early in the second.

Monaco, who lives in Buenos Aires, fought back in the second and made a spirited stand in the third before finally succumbing to his Spanish opponent.

Robredo has won 10 successive matches and has claimed eight of his nine titles on clay.
