Ranking every British player’s chances of winning Wimbledon this year from most to least likely

Add as preferred source on Google

Here we rank every single British player’s chances with Wimbledon coming up, with the likes of Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu competing for glory at the pinnacle of tennis tournaments.

Wimbledon is around the corner once again, and fans will attend en masse with a glass of Pimms in one hand and strawberries and cream in the other.

However, the on-court action always proves to be the top attraction at the premier event on the tennis calendar, and plenty of British players are set to try and achieve Wimbledon success.

Whether it be Jack Draper, Emma Raducanu or Jacob Fearnley, British fans will be hoping for a first able-bodied singles winner at Wimbledon since Andy Murray’s triumph over Milos Raonic in 2016.

1) Jack Draper

The British number one has enjoyed his best season to date, winning his first ATP Masters 1000 title in Indian Wells and reaching the final of the Madrid Open.

However, Draper will be looking to bounce back following disappointing results against Alexander Bublik and Jiri Lehecka at the French Open and Queen’s Club Championships, respectively.

The world number four has enjoyed a meteoric rise up the ATP rankings in the last 18 months, and he shows no signs of slowing down.

2) Emma Raducanu

Never write off Emma.

The 22-year-old has failed to recapture the form that saw her win the 2022 US Open, but her recent form has demonstrated that she is moving in the right direction.

After losing to Qinwen Zheng in the quarter-finals of the Queen’s Club Championships, Emma will be looking to better her 2024 Wimbledon run, where she made the fourth round.

Emma, who recently reclaimed the British number one spot after two years, is due to play American Ann Li on Tuesday in the first round of the Eastbourne Open.

3) Jacob Fearnley

The world number 51 is having a steady season on tour, recording impressive wins versus Nick Kyrgios, former US Open finalist Kei Nishikori and three-time grand slam champion Stan Wawrinka.

The 23-year-old, known for his extremely solid groundstrokes off both wings, reached the second round at Wimbledon last year after losing to Novak Djokovic in four sets. The 2024 championships marked his debut grand slam appearance, and he will be hoping to progress further in this year’s edition.

Fearnley reached the quarter-finals of the Queen’s Club Championships, losing to eventual finalist Jiri Lehecka. He is set to play at Eastbourne this week and has been drawn against Italian star Flavio Cobolli.

4) Katie Boulter

During last year’s Wimbledon Championships, Boulter came out on the losing side in a marathon match against compatriot Harriet Dart, losing 4-6 6-1 6-7.

The 28-year-old performed well in her recent singles matches at Queen’s. Boulter also teamed up with friend Emma Raducanu in the doubles, and it has not been confirmed whether the two will play together at Wimbledon in 2025.

The British number two beat Sonay Kartal on her way to the Nottingham Open quarter-finals, before losing to eventual champion McCartney Kessler.

5) Cameron Norrie

Since his barnstorming run to the Wimbledon semi-finals in 2022, Cameron Norrie has struggled to maintain the level that saw him reach world number eight in September 2022.

Now ranked 61 in the world, the British number three is due to face big-serving Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard at the Eastbourne Open.

Norrie’s recent form has shown signs of returning to its former glory, after an impressive fourth-round run at the French Open, where he was stopped by Novak Djokovic.

6) Sonay Kartal

Sonay Kartal performed admirably at last year’s championships, eventually losing out to American powerhouse Coco Gauff in the third round.

Now world number 49, the 23-year-old has cemented herself as one for the future, and for the present.

Kartal, who recently lost to Katie Boulter at the Nottingham Open, may be a surprise contender at this year’s tournament.

One to watch

Teenager Henry Searle will be looking to make his mark at this year’s championships. The 2023 Wimbledon Boys champion has long been tipped as a future British star, and this year’s championship provides the perfect opportunity for the 19-year-old to demonstrate his innate talent.
