Rafael Jodar is a name that was likely unknown to the masses just a few months ago, but is now seemingly everywhere.
After all, with the run of form this young Spaniard is enjoying, it should come as no surprise that people are starting to sit up and take note.
At 19 years of age, what he has already accomplished in just his first 25 games on the ATP Tour has been astounding.
And, with the emergence of one statistic in particular, there’s cause to believe that he has enjoyed a better start to his career than both Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal enjoyed.
Rafa Jodar’s electric start to his career
This will be incredible news for Rafa Jodar to hear, given that he likely idolises these two fellow Spaniards.
However, it would be unwise to bet against him being the next from their nation to make a name for himself within this sport, with his current trajectory indicative of a player who seems set to only keep ascending towards the apex of the ATP Tour.

His latest win over Alex De Minaur marked his first against a top ten player, coming in his 25th match on the professional tour.
And, having won 17 of those matches, with a title in Marrakesh as well as a semi-final in Barcelona, Jodar has actually eclipsed Alcaraz and Nadal.
After all, in their first 25 matches, they could only muster 14 and 15 wins respectively.
For further context, Joao Fonseca managed 15, whilst Novak Djokovic won 12 and Roger Federer won 11.
Jodar actually plays Fonseca later today in Madrid, in a battle of the two most promising teenagers on tour.
Rafael Jodar has some catching up to do with Joao Fonseca
Whilst Jodar may have won more of the first 25 tour-level matches of his career than Fonseca did, it’s fair to say that the former has some catching up to do when it comes to the Brazilian superstar.
After all, it feels like he’s been ever-present on the ATP Tour for years now, despite being the same age as Jodar.
Can anyone now stop Jannik Sinner from winning Roland Garros after Carlos Alcaraz’s withdrawal?
If yes, who?
And, during that time, he’s managed to win two titles, including an ATP 500 event.
Not only that, but he also boasts at least one win in all four Grand Slams, having even reached the third round of Roland Garros and Wimbledon on debut.
Jodar, meanwhile, only appeared in his first-ever major main draw earlier this year, losing in the second round of the Australian Open.
Both of these teenage talents are set to be the future of this sport, but Fonseca is still some way ahead of the Spaniard for now. That could all have changed by the end of 2026, though…
