The 33-year-old Frenchwoman, who delighted the partisan French crowd at Roland Garros in 2000 and won the Australian Open in 1995, has been out since 2006 with a knee injury.

She told L’Equipe: “I care about Roland Garros. If I could stand in centre court again, that would be a big deal.”
