Novak Djokovic will win ‘three more’ majors claims former No.1
Novak Djokovic has won his 22nd Grand Slam title, equalling his great rival Rafael Nadal, and former No.1 John McEnroe believes the Serb will add at least three more majors to his resume.Ā
Speaking after the men’s Australian Open singles final, which was live and exclusive on discovery+ and Eurosport, McEnroe was full of praise for Djokovic.
“I donāt know how many more heās going to win, but itās hard to see him not win a minimum of two or three more,” said the seven-time Grand Slam champion.
McEnroe continued, “Roger [Federer] won three from 35 onwards, Rafa won three. Novak is probably the best of those three athletically. He hasnāt had a lot of injuries, so I could easily see him winning at least three more.
Djokovic put his win over Stefanos Tsitsipas in his top three of all time, after coming back to Australia following his deportation in 2022.
“Everything on the spectrum from the best to the worst Iāve experienced in the last few weeks. It required a lot, mentally, to keep it together, so I feel a big release now. It is like a balloon with no air. It is over, and I am going to enjoy it,” said Djokovic.
He continued, “I work as hard as anyone else. Iāve managed to find a formula for success where I work to keep improving. That is the only way to progress. If you stagnate, you risk going backwards.”
“The mentality and willpower are always there. It all came to fruition in the last couple of weeks. There is always a place for this wonderful trophy.”

McEnroe commended the Serb for his physical and mental strength, “Heās unbelievably resilient and is a tremendous asset to our game. Heās a phenomenal athlete and player, as well as a phenomenal person. Novak is a master at self-motivation, finding more ways to get hungry, doing what it takes to improve. It takes a lot of dedication.”
Since 2010, only nine out of a possible 53 Grand Slam titles have not been won by either Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer. McEnroe explained why he thinks that is, “Theyāre hungrier than the other players, more disciplined, and do whatever it takes.”
