Novak Djokovic drops huge US Open hint as he joins star-studded Cincinnati doubles line-up

Novak Djokovic will play in the doubles competition at the Cincinnati Masters, dropping a big hint that he will play the US Open.

The world number one has dabbled in doubles before, often with great success, particularly in the ATP Cup in which he led Serbia to success in January, and he will team with compatriot Filip Krajinovic in Cincinnati.

Djokovic is also no stranger to teaming with 28-year-old Krajinovic. The pair have played together five times before, most recently at the Shanghai Masters in October 2019.

There is no shortage of big names in the doubles, with Russians Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev joining forces.

Sam Querrey and Jack Sock are also in the draw, as are Hubert Hurkacz and John Isner. British number one Dan Evans has paired with David Goffin too.

The alternates list is also a star-studded affair, and is headed by British duo Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski.

American duo Taylor Fritz and Reilly Opelka are also on it, as are world number three Dominic Thiem (teaming with Dennis Novak), Alexander Zverev (teaming with Tim Puetz), and Stefanos Tsitsipas (teaming with Pablo Cuevas).

The line-up, although changeable, is a strong indication of which players currently plan on playing in the US Open – a tournament which would give Novak Djokovic a huge chance to close to within two Grand Slam titles of Roger Federer’s all-time record.
