Boulter claimed a decisive break of serve at 5-4 before going on to win 6-2 3-6 6-4 to the delight of the home crowd.
Following Boulter’s opening round victory at Wimbledon, the tournament’s runner-up Nick Kyrgios thinks she can have a solid tournament.

Nick Kyrgios discusses Katie Boutler’s chances at Wimbledon
British number two Katie Boulter is competing at Wimbledon for the seventh time in her career.
The world number 43 has yet to go beyond the third round, a feat she achieved in 2022 and 2023.
In 2025, she has a chance of progressing beyond this stage of the grass court Grand Slam for the first time following her victory over Badosa.
After just her fourth win against a top 10 player, Nick Kyrgios appeared on talkSPORT and backed Boulter to have a strong Wimbledon run.
“But as I said with Katie Boulter, I called it. There was a certain guy on my team that said there’s no way that Badosa’s losing that and I called it again,” the Australian said.
“And I think she’s dangerous. Honestly, on the grass, with the crowd, I think she could go deep, so let’s keep an eye on her.”

Who is Katie Boulter’s next opponent?
Boulter’s next opponent is Argentinian qualifier Solana Sierra, who commenced her first main draw appearance at Wimbledon.
The world number 101 defeated Olivia Gadecki to reach the second round and will face a tough contest against Boulter and her home crowd on Court 1.
Looking ahead to her next match, Boulter said: “It’s going to be an absolute battle. I’m certainly not looking towards round three, round four.
“I’m looking at getting my body ready, enjoying the good moments, moving on and getting myself ready for a second round.
“I’m not necessarily going to look into the future. I think you can easily get caught up just after a good win.”
