Nick Kyrgios and Aryna Sabalenka have shocked the tennis world recently by announcing their plans to reignite another Battle of the Sexes bout.
Set to take place at the end of December later this year, it pits the women’s world number one against the injury-prone Aussie, who has little to lose from this encounter.
Nick Kyrgios has played just four ATP matches all year due to injury, and thus will be free from pressure despite his insistence that he will challenge Aryna Sabalenka.
Speaking about the Belarusian ahead of their clash, he gave his honest verdict not only on her current weapons, but also on how he thinks history will remember her.
Nick Kyrgios makes a prediction about Aryna Sabalenka
Speaking on Australia’s TODAY show, Kyrgios began by admitting he was well aware that his clash with Sabalenka would be ‘pretty controversial’. However, he caveated that by insisting that ‘it’s going to be exciting.’
The 28-year-old went on to add: “It’s been a long time coming, and it’s a blessing to be chosen, you know, out of the males to go out there and compete in front of the world and hopefully come back with a win.
“I mean, look, I’m fairly confident. I’m not going to say too much. I mean, I hope she’s ready, but I’m very aware that she’s very dangerous and she’s very capable. Obviously, the number one player in the world. You know, I think she’ll go down as one of the greatest players of all time when it’s all said and done.
“So, you know, I’m very aware that she’s got weapons, but, you know, I’m pretty confident in my own ability, so.”
Both players are clearly backing themselves to get the win over their opponent, with Sabalenka sending Kyrgios a feisty message just last month, stoking the flames of their upcoming clash.

Kyrgios was then asked about his personal fitness, which has come into question relentlessly throughout 2025.
Many hoped this would be the year where he truly burst back onto the scene as a consistent force on the ATP; however, that has sadly not been the case.
Despite that, he went on to claim: “Oh, yeah, no, it’s feeling really good. The last month’s probably the best I’ve felt physically, and I’m heading overseas on the 30th to go play some events in the States, and then obviously the Battle of the Sexes.

“So it’s been a long time coming, and obviously I struggled with a couple of surgeries, but no, look, I didn’t give up and I’m finally here and able to go out there and do what I do best.
He would then outline his goals for after that iconic showdown, as Kyrgios concluded: “Yeah, look, you know, I mean, the Australian summer’s always, you know, one of the most important parts of the year for me. It’s, you know, playing in your backyard in front of all the Aussie fans. There’s nothing better. Hopefully by then, you know, you guys can try some of the new things I’ve been working on as well.
“But yeah, look, my goal will be to play the Aussie Summer.”
