Nick Kyrgios is set to compete in his first match since January.
The Australian star, a former finalist at Wimbledon, last played a competitive match at the Kooyong Open – an exhibition event that serves as a warm-up for the Australian Open.
On that day in January, Kyrgios was beaten by Chinese player Zhizhen Zhang, 6-3, 4-6, 9-11.
After nearly six months away from competitive action, Kyrgios is set to make his ATP return at the Stuttgart Open.
The former world number 13, who received a wildcard for the German event, has now found out his first opponent.
Nick Kyrgios is set to play Corentin Moutet in Stuttgart
Kyrgios is set to play eccentric French player Corentin Moutet in the Stuttgart Open first round.

Moutet, the eighth seed in Stuttgart, has never played against Kyrgios before on the ATP Tour.
If Kyrgios – the clear underdog against Moutet – were to defeat the Frenchman, he would play Quentin Halys or a qualifier in the second round.
If Kyrgios were to advance further, he would likely play Ben Shelton in the quarter-finals and Jiri Lehecka in the semi-finals.
Nick Kyrgios’ projected path to the Stuttgart Open title
- First round: Corentin Moutet
- Second round: Quentin Halys
- Quarter-finals: Ben Shelton
- Semi-finals: Jiri Lehecka
- Final: Taylor Fritz
Kyrgios last competed at the Stuttgart Open in 2023.
The Australian, seeded eighth at the event, was beaten in the first round by Chinese youngster Wu Yibing.
Kyrgios’ best results at the event – to date – came in 2018 and 2022.
In 2018, Kyrgios reached the semi-final stage before being defeated by top seed Roger Federer.

Four years later, Kyrgios qualified for the same stage. Again, he was defeated – this time by Andy Murray.
Who won the 2025 Stuttgart Open?
The 2025 Stuttgart Open was won by American star Taylor Fritz.
Fritz, one of the best grass-court players on the Tour, defeated Quentin Halys, Marton Fucsovics, and Felix Auger-Aliassime on his way to the final.
Fritz emerged victorious from the championship showpiece, beating top seed Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-6 on the Stuttgart Open Centre Court.
Remarkably, Fritz did not drop one service game throughout his four matches at the event.

“I’m tired of you, I don’t want to see you over the next two or three years – stay away from me,” Zverev joked afterwards.
“I’m really happy, especially as it was not too great of a clay season,” Fritz said after the contest.
“From there, to come and start the grass season off perfectly, I am super happy.”
