Alex de Minaur enjoyed another solid season on the ATP Tour in 2025, which included another top 10 finish for the Australian.
The Australian collected the tenth title of his career by defeating Alejandro Davidovich Fokina at the Washington Open.
Despite the star’s solid season, de Minaur continued to struggle in matches against Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
He is yet to beat either man in his career, and he suffered another three losses to Alcaraz and four to Sinner.
De Minaur’s compatriot Nick Kyrgios has explained what needs to happen for the star to challenge the two men for Grand Slams.

Nick Kyrgios rates Alex de Minaur’s chances of winning a Grand Slam
Speaking at the Atlanta Cup, where Kyrgios was playing Ben Shelton in an exhibition match, the Australian turned his attention towards de Minaur.
Kyrgios believes that de Minaur will need to rely on Sinner and Alcaraz exiting a Grand Slam in the early stages.
He admitted: “Alex will struggle in a best-of-five action at Majors, given how Carlos and Jannik are playing right now. However, if one of them suffers an early defeat, Alex stands among three or four players who have a chance to lift a trophy.”

However, Kyrgios believes that de Minaur can be happy with his career irrespective of whether he manages to win a major tournament.
“Whatever happens, and I know he may never win a Major or a Masters 1000 event, I still like what he is doing and how he plays. He has been in the top-10 for years and accomplished some amazing things.”
De Minaur ended the season as the world number seven after reaching the semi-finals of the ATP Finals in Turin.
Alex de Minaur remains positive about his chances of winning a Grand Slam
Despite his difficult record against Sinner and Alcaraz, de Minaur still believes he can lift a major trophy in the future.
The star revealed his positive outlook after suffering another quarter-final defeat to Sinner at the Australian Open earlier this year.
He said: “If I’m in a different side of the draw, different little section, then who knows? I genuinely think I’m going to give myself opportunities, and I don’t think my peak is making quarter-finals in a slam.
“I see other players that have made it further, have made semis, have made finals, and I do believe that I can be amongst them. If they have been able to accomplish that, then why not me?”
De Minaur has reached six Grand Slam quarter-finals in his career, but he is yet to progress any further than that.
