Jannik Sinner’s 2025 season ended in supreme style, as he swept the trophy in his final three tournaments in a row.
Sinner’s victory over Carlos Alcaraz at the ATP Finals followed on from the Italian’s victories at the Vienna Open and the Paris Masters.
The world number two closed the gap on his Spanish rival at the top of the ATP Tour rankings and it looks only a matter of time before he reclaims the top spot.
Sinner has been hailed for his year-end performance by legendary tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou on social media.

Patrick Mouratoglou hails ‘unique’ Jannik Sinner
Mouratoglou shared his thoughts on the Sinner and Alcaraz rivalry, including what the Italian has done recently to oust his rival.
Writing on Linkedin, Mouratoglou said: “When he was in difficulty on the first set point for Alcaraz, Sinner dared with his second serve and these are also a champion’s shot.
“This is the mentality of a valuable tennis player and Jannik realised he had to do this after the US Open. 2025 brought us a rivalry we all hoped for, six finals and two players that are bound to become legends.”
Who do you think will win more Grand Slam titles in 2026?
The iconic tennis coach said that Sinner was even doing something that Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic failed to.
He added: “2026 will be incredible. Alcaraz has to up the level because Sinner is currently the world number one in the world in serve and return.
“He’s unique. Roger on serve, Rafa and Novak on return, but never both. This is something new in tennis.”
Despite his late season dominance, Sinner’s victory against Alcaraz at the ATP Finals was just his second win over the Spaniard in 2025.
