Murray and Peers into doubles final

The No.8 seeds defeated home favourites Sam Querrey and Steve Johnson in a dramatic three-set semi-final 6-4 6-7(2) 7-6(7) on Thursday.

Murray and his Australian partner Peers, who were runners-up at Wimbledon this summer, will now face French pair Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut in the final.

Peers served for the match at 5-3 in the deciding set, only for the Americans to break back. Johnson and Querrey had match point in the tiebreak but Murray saved it with a backhand volley winner before the pair sealed victory in an hour and 55 minutes.

"My nerves are shot but we're so happy to win and get to the final," said Murray. "We played a very high level match and the other guys were serving really well but we managed to turn it around."

Earlier on Louis Armstrong on Thursday Britain's Dom Inglot failed to reach his first major final when he and Swedish partner Robert Lindtstedt lost to Herbert and Mahut 7-5 6-2.
