The unseeded British pair defeated Thai twin brothers Sanchai and Sonchat Ratiwatana 6-3 1-6 6-4 at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
They were made to wait as the last match of the second day’s play on Court 10 before being switched to Court 11 in New York.
