Mirra Andreeva is through to the fourth round of the 2026 French Open.

The Russian has beaten Fiona Ferro, Marina Bassols Ribera, and Marie Bouzkova en route to the last 16.

Four-time champion Iga Swiatek is another player who has safely booked her place in the fourth round, defeating Emerson Jones, Sara Bejlek, and Magda Linette.

However, the two players have taken completely different approaches at Roland Garros this year…

Mirra Andreeva hasn’t requested different time slots at Roland Garros unlike Iga Swiatek

During her latest press conference, Swiatek confirmed that she has been requesting the earliest session of the day.

The logic is that she will miss the hottest conditions and won’t be affected by other matches going long.

Andreeva was asked the same question during her third-round press conference.

“This year, me personally, I didn’t talk with the organisers at all,” she said.

“Maybe Conchita [Martinez] did, and I didn’t know about it, but I wouldn’t say that we talked to the organisers, ‘please don’t put me first, or please don’t put me last.’ I’m usually pretty easy-going with that.

“It’s easier for me to see the schedule, and whenever they put me, I’m like ok!

“I didn’t have anything to do with it; I didn’t have any control over that, so whenever they put me, I will just go on the court and play.”

Andreeva hasn’t been asking for any specific time slot, but admits she’s been a bit ‘lucky’ with the scheduling.

“The heat this year in Paris was not taking it easy on anyone,” she said.

“I don’t know, I wouldn’t say I prepared in any special way differently; I was just doing everything as I did before: good recovery, ice bath, trying not to spend a lot of time outside with the sun as well.

“I would say that I got pretty lucky. I was not playing at 12 or at 1pm, where the sun is very, very aggressive, so I didn’t really experience that very, very big heat, so I guess I kind of got pretty lucky this year.

Andreeva and Swiatek have approached this year’s French Open differently, but both remain on course for the title.

When could Iga Swiatek and Mirra Andreeva play each other at the French Open?

Placed on the same half of the draw, Swiatek and Andreeva could meet in the semi-finals.

They have work to do before then, though…

Swiatek will play Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk in the fourth round.

Kostyuk is unbeaten on clay this year, winning titles in Rouen and Madrid before reaching the last 16 in Paris.

She has, however, never been past the fourth round of the French Open, while Swiatek is a four-time champion.

Andreeva, on the other hand, will take on Switzerland’s Jil Teichmann, who has knocked out two seeds on her way to the fourth round.

The Russian will walk on court as the favourite, but won’t want to underestimate the 28-year-old.

Should Andreeva advance to the quarters, she would play either Sorana Cirstea or Chinese qualifier Xiyu Wang.

Swiatek would play Elina Svitolina or Belinda Bencic.

Several tricky tests lie ahead, but if Swiatek and Andreeva can win their next two matches, they will set up a blockbuster semi-final.
