Karolina and Kristyna Pliskova represent one of the most successful sibling duos in the history of women’s tennis.
Karolina has been the more successful of the two: achieving the world number one ranking, reaching the 2021 Wimbledon final and winning 17 WTA Tour events.
Kristyna also performed admirably on the professional circuit, winning one singles event and three doubles titles.

In 2016, Kristyna served the most aces in a singles WTA match since the tennis governing body began recording the data in 2008.
Astonishingly, the Czech player did not emerge victorious from the contest.
Kristyna Pliskova’s 31-ace loss
Pliskova began her 2016 Australian Open campaign in emphatic style.
After winning three qualifying matches, Pliskova stunned 25th seed and two-time Grand Slam champion, Sam Stosur, in the first round of the main draw.
Pliskova, who beat Stosur 6-4, 7-6, went on to play future Olympic gold medallist Monica Puig.
Pliskova struck 31 aces – the most of any female player in a WTA Tour singles match since 2008.
Remarkably, the Czech player did not emerge victorious.

Puig defeated Pliskova 4-6, 7-6, 9-7: winning 81 service points to the Czech’s 77.
Puig, from Puerto Rico, went on to lose in the next round to former Wimbledon finalist Agnieszka Radwańska.
Kristyna Pliskova’s last WTA Tour match
Pliskova effectively stepped away from professional tennis in 2021.
The Czech player’s last victory came against Danka Kovinic in the 2021 US Open first round.
Pliskova, who beat Kovinic 6-4, 6-3, went on to lose in the second round to two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova.
Pliskova played her final match in October, losing to Varvara Gracheva 6-3, 7-6 in the Astana Open first round.
Kristyna’s sister, Karolina, continues to compete on the circuit.
The former world number one is currently ranked 63rd on the Tour and most recently competed at Wimbledon.
She defeated Tereza Valentova in south-west London before losing to defending champion Iga Swiatek, 1-6, 3-6.
