The Stockholm Open is well underway, featuring standout players such as Holger Rune, Casper Ruud and Denis Shapovalov.

British star Jacob Fearnley was the first player to make it through to the second round on Monday, defeating fifth-seed Tallon Griekspoor 6-3, 6-7, 7-6.

Then American player Sebastian Korda shocked seventh seed Alexei Popyrin, winning their contest 6-7, 6-1, 6-3.

However, an even greater upset occurred on Monday when the world number 633 stunned Sebastian Ofner to win only his second ATP Tour main draw match.

Leo Borg defeats Sebastian Ofner in Stockholm

Leo Borg, the son of tennis legend Bjorn Borg, produced the performance of his career so far to advance at the Stockholm Open.

The world number 633 had only one ATP Tour main draw win to his name before facing Sebastian Ofner in Sweden.

However, on Monday, he doubled that tally, defeating Ofner 6-3, 6-4.

Ofner, world number 140, has been enduring a period of particularly bad form: the Austrian has now lost his last nine matches.

As a result, 22-year-old Borg is projected to rise 106 places to world number 516 after winning 24 ATP points.

Borg’s next opponent will have to be wary of the young Swede’s skillset, even though they are separated by 610 places in the rankings.

Leo Borg faces Denis Shapovalov next

Leo Borg faces a tough task in the next round – he faces world number 23 Denis Shapovalov.

Shapovalov, the third seed, has won one ATP Tour title this season – the Los Cabos Open.

Unsurprisingly, the pair have never faced each other before on the ATP Tour.

Despite the odds being stacked against Borg, he may have an opportunity to cause another shock.

Shapovalov has been prone to inconsistent form in the past. For example, Shapovalov was recently stunned in straight sets by unseeded Daniel Altmaier at the Japan Open.

If the Swede can create some doubt in the Canadian’s mind, he will most certainly be in with a shot of defeating Shapovalov.
