Jannik Sinner continues to amaze after clinching a fifth successive ATP Masters 1000 title at the Madrid Open.

Sinner defeated Alexander Zverev 6-1, 6-2 in their Madrid final to secure his fourth title of the 2026 season, for which he boasts a 30-2 record.

The Italian overcame the German in less than an hour, prompting an apology from Zverev for the manner of the defeat in the Madrid Open final.

And while Zverev was certainly underwhelming, Sinner was ruthless from start to finish as he became the first man to win five consecutive ATP Masters 1000 titles.

The record-breaking feat has caught the attention of the tennis world, namely WTA icons Martina Navratilova and Coco Gauff.

Jannik Sinner matches Novak Djokovic ATP points record

Sinner has, of course, managed to retain his spot atop the ATP rankings with his latest success, which represents the 28th title of his stunning career.

And he’s now also made history with his ranking points, with the Italian surpassing the 14,000 mark for the very first time.

The last man to achieve the feat was Serbian legend Novak Djokovic, who hit 14,040 points in October 2016.

Sinner has now jumped from 13,350 to 14,350, and is comfortably ahead of Carlos Alcaraz in second with 12,960.

It has been a remarkable switch at the very top of men’s tennis, with the Italian making the very best out of the Spaniard’s absence.

Alcaraz is currently sidelined with a wrist injury, which ruled him out of Madrid and is doing the same for Rome and Roland Garros.
