Laver Cup captain Bjorn Borg hails ‘extraordinary’ Team Europe line-up

Laver Cup captain Bjorn Borg has described the talent at his disposal as in Team Europe as ‘extraordinary’.

Europe have never lost an edition of the Laver Cup and they will have home advantage this year in London.

They have now completed a strong line-up, with Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud, both former French Open finalists, signing up.

“This is an extraordinary line-up,” said Captain Bjorn Borg. “Stefanos and Casper are leading next-generation players.

“They have both excelled in Laver Cup competition and I have no doubt they will value the opportunity to stand alongside the Big Four. It will be an extraordinary event in London.”

“Laver Cup is an event that I enjoy taking part of since I get to team up with my fellow rivals and become part of Team Europe, playing against some of the best competitors that Team World has to offer,” Tsitsipas said. “I’m more than proud to represent Team Europe!”

Ruud added: “I am proud to be part of Team Europe’s historic line-up.

“It was an amazing experience competing in Boston, and I can’t wait to have these incredible players as my teammates in London.”

Tsitsipas and Ruud join Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray in what is probably the most star-studded Laver Cup team ever assembled.

The Team World line-up has yet to be confirmed. Felix Auger-Aliassime, Taylor Fritz, Diego Schwartzman and Jack Sock will play, but the final two names have not yet been announced.
