Alex de Minaur captured a first Rotterdam Open title on Sunday after defeating Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-3, 6-2 in the final.

De Minaur, the world number six, finally captured the title after final losses in 2024 and 2025 to Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

Auger-Aliassime praised de Minaur after the match, saying the Australian deserved to win the tournament.

Will Alex de Minaur finish 2026 ranked inside the top five?

Following de Minaur’s victory, Katie Boulter – the Australian’s fiancée – couldn’t help but post a humorous message on social media.

Katie Boulter’s funny message to Alex de Minaur

On X [formerly Twitter], Katie Boulter posted a quote, seemingly referencing a comment Alex de Minaur had said earlier in the week.

She said: “I just can’t hit the side of a truck this week.”

Earlier in the tournament, de Minaur revealed that he had been struggling in practice, admitting that he had been ‘quite frustrated’ by the balls in practice.

However, as Boulter seemingly references, the Australian quickly adapted to the conditions in Rotterdam, aiding his run to the title.

Boulter also replied to another post published by Bastien Fachan. Fachan, a French tennis journalist, noted the correlation between Boulter and de Minaur’s title wins.

In March last year, the pair won titles in the same week in Acapulco and San Diego. In June, the same situation occurred in Rosmalen and Nottingham.

And just last week, Boulter won her fourth career title at the Ostrava Open – a week prior to de Minaur’s Rotterdam triumph.

Replying to Fachan’s post, Boulter said: “He just can’t let me have a week.”

When Katie Boulter and Alex de Minaur played doubles together

Impressively, they beat Australian duo Storm Hunter and John Peers 6-2, 6-4 in the first round.

What is stopping Katie Boulter from staying in the WTA top 20?

“A fantastic player, was already in the top 20, and she has unfortunately – we have talked about it so many times on our podcast – unfortunately, she just has the yips.”

After advancing, Boulter told BBC Sport: “It’s something we’ve both wanted to do for quite some time. It’s not often that you get to have that experience together, especially at Wimbledon,” said Boulter.

“It’s a totally different vibe going on court with him. I think we bring the best out of each other, in terms of tennis, on and off the court.”

The pair were defeated in the second round by Joran Vliegen and Xu Yifan, 3-6, 6-4, 6-7.
