Katie Boulter’s run at the China Open came to an end at the hands of an inspired Amanda Anisimova, who defeated the Brit in straight sets.

Boulter defeated Hailey Baptiste at the China Open to set up a second-round tie with an Anisimova in red-hot form.

The US Open and Wimbledon finalist dominated the Brit, dropping just four games in their first-ever meeting.

Watching on Sky Sports commentary duty, Colin Fleming suggested the changes Boulter should make following the loss.

Colin Fleming says Katie Boulter needs to work out her serve

Fleming was positive about Boulter’s run at the China Open, but suggested one thing she desperately needed to work on.

Reviewing her time at the Beijing tournament, Fleming called the campaign “A pretty positive start” to the Asian swing.

However, he conceded that the Brit was outplayed by the American. “From Anisimova’s point of view, we talked about it how big her game is, 23 winners to Boulter’s 11.”

“Boulter can seriously strike a tennis ball as well, just incredible the way Anisimova plays, the way she hits the ball, was able to break four times from nine opportunities,” added Fleming.

“Boulter, you would think, will need to figure out what happened with the serve before she plays again in the coming weeks.”

The Brit’s loss follows the star’s loss to another American in the Billie Jean King Cup, Jessica Pegula, who toppled Boulter in three sets.

Sonay Kartal and Emma Raducanu fly the flag for Britain at the China Open

Despite Boulter’s China Open exit, Emma Raducanu and Sonay Kartal are still representing Great Britain in Beijing.

Kartal defeated Alycia Parks to set up a second-round clash with Daria Kasatkina, that takes place on September 27.

Raducanu received a bye in the first round due to her number 30 seeding and will begin her campaign against Cristina Bucșa.

Bucsa defeated Donna Vekic to set up a third meeting of 2025 with Raducanu, following matches at Queen’s and Singapore.
