Jannik Sinner may be fresh off yet another elite title, but Justine Henin has since admitted that she was not impressed with what she saw from the 24-year-old.

In fact, the Belgian superstar has actually outlined her worries about what his triumph means for the wider ATP Tour.

In an open and honest analysis of Indian Wells and Jannik Sinner’s triumph, Henin did not hold back.

Justine Henin claims Jannik Sinner didn’t play well at Indian Wells

“Jannik Sinner didn’t necessarily impress me,” she began, speaking to Eurosport’s Winning Return. “And that’s what’s actually quite worrying.”

In fact, Henin outlined why this was a worry: “Seeing him win with relative ease, because you can still analyse one of the matches in which he was, fortunately, very much on the back foot.

“There was that final, of course, we saw a player [Fonseca in the third round] come along and give him a bit of a run for his money, but rewatching that final – in which he was, after all, pushed around – we might go into a bit more detail about the nature of that match and what Medvedev showed, but in the end we still had that feeling that he’s got a gear left.”

She honed in on the final in particular, adding: “In any case, that’s what I felt when watching that final – wondering when he’s going to decide to push the accelerator a little harder.

Who do you think will retire with more Grand Slam titles?

“In fact, you could see when Medvedev started to pick up the pace; there were moments when the tempo was very high, yet he still has that ability to manage the moments, which means he manages to come out on top, particularly in the second-set tie-break; there’s no panic, you can sense no panic amongst his entourage.

“I think that in terms of management, I found him quite brilliant throughout the tournament, but in terms of play, I’ve seen him play much more convincingly before. And yet, he’s won Indian Wells for the first time in his career without dropping a single set.”

Meanwhile, Jack Draper has instead suggested that Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have changed tennis with their quality.

Jannik Sinner has proven that he is not unbeatable in 2026

Whilst Sinner may have strolled to the title in Indian Wells, 2026 has been far from easy for the former world number one.

In fact, twice he has been proven to have flaws, first outlasted by Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open, before being outgunned by Jakub Mensik in Qatar.

Henin makes a good point about this latest tournament in isolation, but Sinner is far from unbeatable in 2026.

What makes this point even stronger is the fact that he is yet to even play Carlos Alcaraz, who was the only player on the entire ATP Tour to have beaten him more than once in 2025.
