Last week, Jamie Murray announced his retirement from tennis.
The 40-year-old has retired from his playing career as one of the most decorated figures in British sporting history.
Murray is a seven-time Grand Slam champion across men’s doubles and mixed doubles, last winning a major title at the 2019 US Open.
Murray also achieved the world number one ranking in doubles, as his brother – Andy Murray – did in singles.

Judy Murray, the mother of Jamie and Andy, has reflected on her son’s retirement.
Judy Murray hopes Jamie Murray realises how ‘valued’ he is
“I actually love to see the outpouring of respect and appreciation for him,” Judy [pictured below] said in an interview with Clyde 1 News. “I think he had a remarkable career, got to number one in the world, 39 titles, seven Grand Slams, a Davis Cup, four Olympics.

“Amazing career, but he often was in the shadow of Andy because singles are so much more in the media than doubles is. So it was great to see that.
“But yeah, he’s 40. He’s ready for new challenges and I’m ready for quieter life, that’s for sure.
“I hope that he realises how valued he is because he was the one who kick-started the doubles boom that has happened in Britain.
“He was the first one who really took it seriously as a career, put all his eggs into the doubles basket and got to number one in the world.
“First British player to make number one in the world in doubles. So yeah, I hope he enjoyed it and I hope he felt valued for everything that he’s achieved and given back to the sport.”

Jamie’s retirement comes almost two years after Andy Murray said goodbye to the sport.
Andy Murray, a three-time major champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist, retired following his participation in the 2024 Olympic Games.
Murray, paired with compatriot Dan Evans, reached the men’s doubles quarter-finals before losing to American pair Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul.

Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos won the title, defeating British pair Neal Skupski and Joe Salisbury in the final.
