Carlos Alcaraz has made history by winning his maiden Australian Open title after defeating Novak Djokovic in the final.
The Spaniard bounced back from losing the first set against Djokovic to defeat the multi-time Grand Slam champion in four sets.
Alcaraz has now won seven Grand Slams, which is more than any other player outside of Bjorn Borg before the age of 23.
After his landmark win at the Australian Open, Alcaraz has received a message from former Grand Slam champion Juan Martin del Potro.

Former World No. 3 del Potro shared his immediate thoughts about Alcaraz’s victory over Djokovic in the Australian Open final.
On social media, the former US Open champion said: “Thank you Novak Djokovic for what you did. You made us feel so many emotions again. You’re one of a kind, I love you so much.”

The Argentine then turned his attention toward Alcaraz’s latest achievement. He wrote: “Big up Carlitos!!! You’re an absolute legend.”
At the age of 22, Alcaraz has become the youngest player to achieve the Career Grand Slam by defeating Djokovic.
The Spaniard will next be in action at the Rotterdam Open, the indoor Dutch tournament he last won back in 2025.

Alcaraz feats at the Australian Open have seen him create more history and the star has been given some extraordinary praise.
Speaking on BBC 5 Live, Pat Cash said: “Both players were hurting today and had to push each other and themselves to the limits.

“Alcaraz didn’t look tired at all for the whole match and that’s something special. He’s incredibly fast and can produce amazing tennis on all surfaces.
“He’s a complete player and the youngest I’ve ever seen to be a complete player – and it’s proven by winning all four Grand Slams.”
Alcaraz has added 1600 ranking points after his win and he’s further extended his lead at the top of the ATP Tour rankings over Jannik Sinner.
