Juan Carlos Ferrero says his relationship with Carlos Alcaraz has been ‘spectacular’ all year
In an interview with Spanish outlet MARCA, Ferrero discussed his relationship with Alcaraz and the arrival of Samuel Lopez to the team.
He said: “I think the year has been very good in terms of results, and the relationship between the two of us has been spectacular all year. We haven’t had any arguments at any point.

“Samuel’s arrival has brought a breath of fresh air to the team, allowing the relationship to last in the future. It’s been a very good year, and when it ended in Turin, it’s true that we all had the idea that we were going to continue.
“Then what happened, happened, and we went our separate ways, but initially the idea was to continue, and that’s why I said so in the statement.”
Under Ferrero’s tutelage, Alcaraz won six Grand Slam titles and achieved the status of world number one. The Spaniard enjoyed his best year on the Tour this year, winning two major titles in Paris and New York, and reclaiming the world number one spot from Jannik Sinner.
Alcaraz will now look ahead to the Australian Open. The 22-year-old has the opportunity to complete the ‘Career Grand Slam’ in Australia – something only five male players in the Open Era have achieved.

Juan Carlos Ferrero spoke about the joy Carlos Alcaraz brings to the court
Alcaraz’s last Grand Slam triumph came at this year’s US Open. The Spaniard defeated Jannik Sinner in the final, winning the trophy for a second time.
After the match, Juan Carlos Ferrero commented on the joy that Carlos Alcaraz appears to play with, and how it helps the Spaniard on the court.
Ferrero said: “This comes from the beginning when I maybe saw him for the first time with — I think he was 12, 13 years old,” Ferrero told reporters in New York.
“You could see the smile all the time on the face, except when he gets angry on the court.

“But the rest of the time he was all the time enjoying, because the way he plays, you know, it’s very, let’s say, a little bit easier than maybe others’ kind of games to enjoy and to have joy on the court. So it was from the very beginning.”
