Former world number eight John Isner has picked Team World’s most valuable contributor during their victory at the Laver Cup.
The two standout nominees were Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur, who combined to win 12 of Team World’s 15 points.
Fritz recorded impressive victories against Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev, while de Minaur defeated Zverev and Jakub Mensik in his singles matches.
De Minaur also won a doubles contest, pairing with Alex Michelsen to defeat Casper Ruud and Holger Rune.
Both players made great contributions and will be remembered for their leading roles in their team’s success.
But who was more important to Team World’s triumph?
John Isner picks Alex de Minaur as the most important Team World player

Speaking on the ‘Nothing Major’ podcast, former American players John Isner, Steve Johnson and Jack Sock discussed the matter at hand.
Isner opened the conversation, saying: “I am giving it to Demon [Alex de Minaur], which is crazy.
Johnson disagreed, replying: “You have got to go [Taylor] Fritz. Carlos has not lost like that in a long time.
“If that doesn’t give Team World a total pick me up, even though it was Saturday night, that gave them all the belief they needed going into Sunday.”
Sock agreed with Johnson’s sentiments, adding: “Even though I am a big win the doubles matches at Laver Cup guy, I think I am going to have to go Fritz.
“I think if he beats Alcaraz 10-8 in a third-set breaker, it’s a tight match. It’s an incredible win, obviously, he beat number one in the world but I think the way he went about it and the way he won, I think that put Team World in a different mentality.
“You win the doubles after that, and everyone is fired up, and then you go into Sunday with crazy confidence that maybe you don’t have if it goes the other way or if it’s a tight win.”
Team World close in on Team Europe
Taylor Fritz’s tie-clinching victory marked a historic moment for Team World.
The team won their third Laver Cup, having previously captured the title in 2022 and 2023.
There have been eight Laver Cups contested since 2017, meaning Team Europe now leads Team World by five wins to three.
Team Europe’s lead is understandable considering how strong European players have been in the last decade.

However, Team World proved their worth during this year’s event, and who would bet against them doing the very same in 2026?
