The Greek star, a former Grand Slam finalist and world number three, looks a shell of his former self.

Jim Courier ‘hopes’ and believes Stefanos Tsitsipas can turn things around
During the latest episode of ‘Beyond the Numbers‘, Courier delivered his verdict on Tsitsipas’ struggles.
“I want to start with Stefanos Tsitsipas, who got to number three in 2021, has been to major finals, having a little bit of a form dip right now,” he said.
“But personally, I think he’s got everything he needs to get right back into the mix.
“I think he can turn it around, and I hope he does.”

Former world number four, Caroline Garcia, was also keen to weigh in.
“Stefanos [Tsitsipas] had some great years in the past, was able to do some very good results against top players and reach finals of Slams,” she said.
“Last year he did a very good tournament in Dubai, kind of surprising everyone, because he was in a moment of his career where everyone was doubting him a lot, and then he did such a good result.

“From what I see, most of the time, I would say sometimes for him, the game is getting too fast, especially on his backhand, and I’m not sure how he can get over that.”
Jessica Pegula’s coach, Mark Knowles, agreed with Garcia’s assessment.
“[He has] tremendous upside, athleticism is off the charts, huge forehand, I think he has improved his serve a little bit, even though his ranking has gone down,” said Knowles.

What’s next for Stefanos Tsitsipas?
Tsitsipas is in free fall and looks more likely to exit the top 100 than he is to re-enter the top 50.
Three years ago, Tsitsipas was one win away (2023 Australian Open final vs Novak Djokovic) from becoming the world number one.
Today, he trails the world number one Jannik Sinner by over 12,000 points.

And the big worry for Tsitsipas, is that he has made a horrific start on his best surface, clay.
Tsitsipas is a three-time Monte Carlo Masters champion, but lost his opening match this year, to Francisco Cerundolo.
He then lost to Fabian Marozsan in his Munich opener.
The 27-year-old now faces a trip to Spain for the Madrid Open.
Tsitsipas is a former finalist in Madrid, but even the most optimistic fan wouldn’t predict a repeat in 2026.
He will simply be looking to end his losing run and start to build some momentum ahead of the French Open.
Only time will tell if Tsitsipas will ever get back to his best…
The 2026 Madrid Open begins on Friday, April 24.
