Jessica Pegula late-career bloom continued with an impressive Dubai Tennis Championships title win against Elina Svitolina.
Pegula’s win in Dubai was the fourth Masters title win of her career and each of them has come in the last four years.
The American is up to world number five in the WTA Tour rankings and she is now the highest-ranked player without a Grand Slam title to her name.
After her monumental win in Dubai, Pegula has discussed her chances of landing a Grand Slam before she retires.

Jessica Pegula is ‘hoping’ a Grand Slam title will come
Speaking to the WTA Tour, Pegula discussed what she needs to do now to win the first Grand Slam title of her career.
“I think matches like this week really help. Building confidence on how I need to play and things I still want to get better and improve.”
The American is convinced that she is moving in the right direction and a Grand Slam title will come before she retires.
How do you rate Jessica Pegula’s chances of ever winning a Grand Slam?
Sharing what her game plan will now be, the 31-year-old said: “Just keep chipping away and building that. Maybe a little luck [laughing].
“I think again, keeping that mindset every day in practice and the gym and at these tournaments, I’m hoping it’s going to get me there in the end.”
Pegula’s next opportunity to win a Grand Slam will be Roland Garros, where she has never gone past the quarter-finals.
Jessica Pegula’s Grand Slam record
Pegula is one of the best players to never win a Grand Slam on the current WTA Tour, but she is edging closer and closer to that maiden major victory.
The American reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open for the first time in her career this season, but her campaign was ended by eventual winner Elena Rybakina.
Jessica Pegula’s best-ever Grand Slam results
- Australian Open – Semi-final (2026)
- Roland Garros – Quarter-final (2022)
- Wimbledon – Quarter-final (2023)
- US Open – Final (2024)
The star’s sole Grand Slam final came on home soil at the 2024 US Open, but Pegula was defeated by Aryna Sabalenka.
Do you think women should play best-of-five set matches?
Pegula has fared less well at Wimbledon and Roland Garros, although she does have two quarter-final appearances to her name.
It’s clear that a hard court Grand Slam is Pegula’s best chance of winning a major, and her next chance will be the 2026 US Open.
