Jessica Pegula is preparing to play against her compatriot Coco Gauff in the Wimbledon quarter-finals.

Pegula has reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals for just the second time in her career, having also done so in 2023, after beating Iva Jovic.

The world number four will now face another American in Gauff, who has reached her first Wimbledon quarter-final this year.

Pegula and Gauff are former doubles partners, and the former has revealed how she is feeling physically ahead of their upcoming match.

Jessica Pegula confirms she is ‘feeling good’ ahead of playing Coco Gauff

Pegula came from a set down to beat Jovic 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 and after in her post-match press conference she was asked about how she was feeling physically heading into the second week of Wimbledon.

At this point, Pegula did not know she would be facing Gauff in the quarter-finals, but she confirmed that she was ready for her upcoming opponent.

How do you rate Jessica Pegula’s chances of ever winning a Grand Slam?

“Yeah, I mean, grass is a little tricky I feel like for me,” responded Pegula. “Sometimes the surface, it’s a lot of, like, decelerating. I think going into grass court season, a lot of people work on those kind of deceleration work on grass ’cause it just feels much different than when you’re on clay or hard.

“I do a lot of work on that as far as movement. I think being lighter on your feet. When you’re heavy or flat-footed you can get really sore because it’s a lot of pounding on your legs.

“That’s something I’ve been working on and try to think about when I’m practicing and playing matches, is being kind of light and flowing with the grass. I think that’s the best way for your body to actually like absorb some of the shock that it’s taking throughout a match.

“Recovery is, I mean, for me, I like a lot of ice baths. I actually enjoy. I’m probably going to do that after I’m done here. I’ll do a cold tub and massage.

“Everything feels pretty good, though. I can’t complain. I’m definitely very healthy right now. There’s always little things here and there but stuff that’s very manageable. Yeah, feeling good and try to take advantage of the fact that my body is feeling good right now.”
