Jasmine Paolini produced a fine run to the Cincinnati Open final ahead of the US Open.
Prior to arriving in Ohio, Paolini suffered a second round defeat at Wimbledon, before losing her opening match in Montreal.
Furthermore, Paolini parted ways with coach Marc Lopez after just three weeks, before Federico Gaio joined her team in Cincinnati on a temporary basis.
Despite the challenges she was facing on and off the court, Paolini enjoyed a welcome return to form at the Cincinnati Open, reminding everyone what she is capable of on hard courts.

Jasmine Paolini thanks her team on social media after her run to the Cincinnati Open final
Jasmine Paolini registered some big wins on her way to the Cincinnati Open final. She gained some revenge on Barbora Krejcikova from the 2024 Wimbledon final and she came from a set down to defeat Coco Gauff for the third match in a row.
But Paolini met her match against a player she has yet to beat. In Monday’s final, Iga Swiatek won the Cincinnati Open for the first time after beating Paolini 7-5, 6-4.
The world number eight has taken to social media platform X to thank her team for helping guide her to the championship match, while also congratulating Swiatek for winning the title.
”It’s been two amazing weeks here in Cincinnati, and I’m so happy to be back after a couple of tough months,” Paolini wrote.
“I want to thank everyone who makes this tournament possible, as well as my team, with a special thanks to the Italian Tennis Federation and to @saraerrani87 for helping me when I needed it the most.
“This is a fantastic venue, a wonderful tournament, and we get to play in front of an incredible crowd. I truly hope to be back next year. Congrats Iga, you played great! Thank you for all the support both here and from back home.”

Jasmine Paolini heads to the US Open without playing the mixed doubles event
Paolini will now head to New York to prepare for the US Open, with the singles main draw commencing on Sunday.
She was due to be in at Flushing Meadows already, as she was due to compete alongside Lorenzo Musetti in the mixed doubles tournament.
But after reaching the Cincinnati Open final and with the short turnaround between Monday’s final and the start of the US Open mixed doubles event on Tuesday, Paolini decided to take some rest and pulled out of playing alongside Musetti at Flushing Meadows.
“I need some rest guys. So I’m not going to play the mixed doubles,” she told Tennis Channel. “I decided with my team to rest one or two days after this tournament because it’s been a tough tournament.
“I would love to play with Lorenzo and hopefully next year, you know, we have the chance to play again, but I’m sorry.”
