Jasmine Paolini squeezed into the WTA Finals as the eighth and final seed, but the Italian had a tournament to forget in Saudi Arabia.
The star picked up a virus before the start of the WTA Finals and struggled through her singles matches in Riyadh.
Paolini lost to Jessica Pegula, Aryna Sabalenka, and Coco Gauff as she finished the competition bottom of her group.
The star’s season is now finished, and the world number eight has reflected on her tournament, as well as her season as a whole.

Jasmine Paolini thanks fans after2025 WTA season
Paolini performed double duty at the tournament, playing in both the singles and the doubles, but her tournament ended early in both.
The star was typically upbeat about her season as she sent a message to fans on social media following the end of her season.
On X, the Italian wrote: “Finishing my week here in Saudi Arabia after the WTA Finals. I’m really happy about qualifying, even though a virus kept me from performing the way I wanted.
“Still, it’s been an experience. Huge thanks to the WTA, the tournament, my doubles partner, Sara Errani, and my team for all the support this week. I’ll take some time to rest and recover, and I’ll be back soon.”
Paolini was performing in her second WTA Finals after making her debut in 2024. The star picked up one win last year against Elena Rybakina, but she still failed to qualify for the knockout stages.
Jasmine Paolini’s impressive 2025 season
Paolini’s rise up the rankings in the latter stages of her career was impressive in 2024, but the Italian maintenance of her ranking position throughout 2025 is arguably a greater achievement.
The star’s back-to-back WTA Finals qualification is a testament to the work she’s done in 2025, which has seen her become a permanent fixture in the top eight of the rankings.
Paolini’s win at the Italian Open was undeniably her greatest achievement in 2025, as she defeated Gauff to lift her home trophy. She also reached the Cincinnati Open final, but lost in straight sets to Iga Swiatek.
In doubles, the Italian’s impressive partnership with Errani continued as the Italian duo picked up three more trophies: the Qatar Open, the Italian Open, and the China Open.
